01.09.07 A Quick Look at Successful Boys and Girls High basketball teams in the State
It is great to be back on the blog front after a two week hiatus to Siesta Key, Florida. I am not tecnically proficient at this point to do my blog on the road, but give me some credit, I am least trying to do my blog when I can. January is always a great time in basketball because you now head into the most important part of the season, except tournament time, and as I write this there are still seven undefeated girls teams and six undefeated boys teams. Four of the girls teams are in Class 4A (Hamilton Southeastern, Avon, Terre Haute South, and Bloomington North), two in Class 2A (Northwestern and Oak Hill), and Bloomfield in Class 1A. Each of these teams have played a minimum of thirteen games, and clearly have established themselves as contenders for the opportunity to play at Conseco Fieldhouse. On the boys side, six undefeated teams head into action this week. North Central (Indianapolis) and Concord are the only undefeated teams in 4A, with Edgewood and Roncalli in 3A, and 1A Oregon-Davis and Tri-County round out the list. Big games this week: Girls: Jeffersonville at Southwestern (Hanover) on Saturday, Lawrence North at Terre haute South also on Saturday, Oak Hill at Eastbrook on Saturday, and Barr-Reeve at Forest park on Saturday. Friday’s big game in girls basketball is Argos at Oregon-Davis. Boys Basketball: My favorite game is Saturday’s match-up of Orleans at Lanesville.
