02.23.07 Tournament time in the state is the best time of the year
Tournament time has already begun around the state. This weekend we move to the Semi-State round of the Girl’s tournament, with the winners coming to Conseco Fieldhouse next Saturday for the Championships. Best game of the day, based on the rankings, may be at Plymouth where 4A No. South Bend Washington takes on 4A No. 5 Anderson. All eight games involved two ranked teams except the 4A game between unranked Center Grove and 4A No. 9 Columbus East. In college basketball, Franklin College hosts the HCAC tournament tonight and Saturday with a chance to go to the NCAA Division III tournament. Wabash and Depauw will play in their conference tournaments this week, and the Semi-finals of the Mid Central Conference feature Grace at Huntington and St. Francis at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday. Next week the Butler Bulldogs will begin Horizon League tournament play, and IUPUI and Valpo will begin play in the Mid Continent Conference.
