03.16.07 Tournament Thoughts- We have plenty of teams of which we can be proud
Last week in the blog, I talked about the success of the Butler Bulldogs and how i thought they were were in the same position of the 2003 team to make it to the Sweet 16. Their win over Old Dominion was no surprise to me, but certainly one to the experts and many of you who saw ODU as the 12 seed to win this year. I saw a Butler team that deserves to be in the Top 25, deserves to be a 5 seed, and am stunned to think that the second best team in the CAA would be that favored over a team from the Horizon League ( a reminder, the Horizon League is rated higher than the CAA in the RPI). I was also not surprised to see Indiana University win over a Gonzaga team that was very deserving of a 10 seed. The Hoosiers played well defensively, shot the ball reasonably well, and out played Gonzaga… Congratulations to Steve Brooks and his Indiana Wesleyan team that capped an incredible season by going undefeated and winning the NAIA Division II Women’s National Championship. Tune in to the show this weekend for my conversation with Coach Brooks and hear how they did it…. Boys Semi-State championships this Saturday, winners come to Conseco Fieldhouse next Saturday—great games in all four classes. cathc allmof the scores on the show as always.
