08.09.07 Season 14 on Indiana Sports Talk
In August of 1994, we had absolutely no idea we would be on the air for fourteen weeks let alone fourteen years. Frankly, who would? I was brand new to radio, having spent the previous twenty one years coaching at Franklin College and IUPUI. I had no idea how to go a break, how to come out of break, and the normal things talking heads on the radio do to make things run smoothly. In those first weeks, we used to take listener calls in addition to our conversations with coaches. It did not go well to say the least, and we abandoned that idea very quickly. Since that time, as you know, we do not take listener calls, and I wish that I had more contact with our audience. Sitting in the studio I only have contact with coaches and some of my radio colleagues, and obvuiously, our tremendous staff. So, part of my message is to encourage you to e-mail me at your convenience. Also, I will be doing a chat on the message board in the next few weeks. I am keyboard-challenged, but I am really looking forward to doing this on a regular basis. These past thirteen years have been wonderful, and we lookk forward to many more. I think we have played a large part in elevating the profile of high school and college sports in our state, and we are determined to continue this work every weekend for as long as we can.
