09.26.07 Butler Football is Rejuvenated and Undefeated
Most people think of the basketball team when you mention Butler, and rightfully so. What the Dogs have done on the court in the past few years has been remarkable. However, there is now some deserved buzz on campus and around the state about the football team. In just his second year, Head Coach Jeff Voorhis has completely rejuvenated a team and has captured more wins than most observers thought they would for the season. Saturday’s match-up with San Diego will be a tough one. The Homecoming crowd will see a Torero team that is currently ranked Number One in the Mid-Major poll. The Dogs are ranked sixth, and when is the last time people talked about the polls for the football team at Butler? Also off to great starts in college football in our state, the Boilermakers can make it 5-0 with a win over Notre Dame. I am not piling on, and this will be a better game than most people think. Wabash and DePauw have not lost in this young season, St. Francis has not lost a regular season game in so long I can’t even remember. If there is a better football coach than Kevin Donley, let me know. Thanks for logging on to the site and the blog, and I will continue to look at college football in the next few weeks. Check out IHSAASports.org for my weekly thoughts on high school football. Thanks again and keep listening to Indiana Sports Talk.
