11.23.07 College hoops underway during the Holidays and ther are some good teams in action in these next few days.
You have heard me mention it more times than yyou would like, but his is one of my favorite weekends in the entire sports year. Yes, the NCAA Tournament and the Super Bowl command a much larger stage, but think of all that is going on in Indiana this weekend. The State Finals begin Friday, with Sheridan going for its third 1A title in a row. The Blackhawks will play the undefeated Rockville Rox to start the weenend of Championships at the Dome this weekend. 2A will feature Ft. Wayne Bishop Luers against Heritage Christian. Great story lines in this game with Luers back at the Dome for the first time in five years, and Heritage Christian in its first-ever Finals, having only played football for six years. Saturday begins with South Bend St. Joe versus the defending 3A champs Chatard, followed by Lowell against Evansville Reitz, and Carmel versus Pike. Some tremendous stories, great teams and coaches, and a wonderful weekend ahead. Boys basketball started this week, follwing the beginning of the girls schedule a few days ago. Some great games this weekend are Carmel at Hamilton Southeastern in girls action on Saturday , with Brebeuf at Lawrence North, Jac-Cen-Del at Batesville in boys play also on Saturday. There is a pretty good schedule of college basketball this weekend, so listen to the show and check out the college section on the website. Have a great weekend.
