11.26.07 Goodbye Football, Hello Basketball
A great high school football season came to a conclusion Thanksgiving weekend with five championship games at the RCA Dome.
Congratulations to Carmel, Evansville Reitz, Indianapolis Chatard, Fort Wayne Luers and Sheridan for claiming their respective titles.
While the Reitz Panthers won the first football championship in school history, the other four champions are no strangers to hoisting the trophy. Chatard and Sheridan both extended their state records with their ninth all-time championships, while Luers now has seven and Carmel six.

Now, it’s on to high school basketball. The week of Thanksgiving not only marks the last games on the gridiron, but the first games on the hardwood. Most teams around the state have one or two games under their belts already, and there is a full slate of games scheduled for this weekend.
